Hello everyone; I am excited to announce a new one-day workshop on the secrets to woodland photography. As most of you know, it’s probably my favourite place to photograph. Therefore this format of the workshop is long overdue.
It will be different from other workshops in the format as it will be divided into separate sessions during the day to tackle theory, set-up, shooting, image review, and post-production.
A theory session, discussion on woodland photography and its challenges, and some answers, followed by practical advice on settings, lenses, equipment, etc.
A presentation on developing creative vision and simplification in woodland settings
A 2.5hr woodland exploration and walk-making compositions and turning theory into practice in the field.
Initial image reviews and critiques to shortlist images to edit
Demonstration, advice and post-production of your woodland images
I am running it from my home as I have easy and instant access to woodlands from my garden and a comfortable covered, heated outdoor space for viewing the presentation and your images on a large screen (if the weather permits) or indoors.
Places are limited to four people, but I am happy to add dates if there is demand.

11:00 am - 2hr to 2.5hr woodland walk, practical making composition and putting theory into practice.

Post-processing offers the opportunity to refine exposure and contrast, ensuring that the image accurately reflects the atmosphere and mood of the woodland scene. We will discuss techniques for adjusting exposure, recovering highlights and shadows, and enhancing contrast to create images that captivate the viewer.
Embracing the Colors of the Forest: Enhancing Vibrancy and Saturation
Woodlands are a tapestry of colours, from the vivid greens of moss-covered stones to the warm hues of autumn foliage. Post-processing allows us to enhance and accentuate these natural colours, bringing out the richness and vibrancy of the scene. We will explore techniques for improving hue, saturation, and vibrancy while maintaining a natural and authentic look.

Reminder Photo Contest - Theme - Spring is open for voting until 30th June, 2023
Anyone can vote, regardless of whether you entered or not!
It’s your interpretation of spring, so the three entries are entirely your choice, not mine!
There are three categories to vote on for each image, scoring out of 5. Vote on as many or few as you want to.
Composition/Design - how well framed and composed
Technical Execution - focus/sharpness, use of depth of field/shutter speed and other techniques
Post-Production/Creativity - has the editing and presentation enhanced and conveyed something extra
Results announced 1st July 2023. £25 Gift Voucher will be awarded to each winner in the three categories.
